Today, let's continue the topic yesterday:
Types of router bits.
(5) Milling Cutter in the types of router bits:
① Main application:
a. End milling;
b. To flat square mill cutters:
More common in cleaning cnc router table and carving large flat concave-convex word;
② Ideal materials:
PVC boards, organic glass, wood, etc.
③ Parameters:
a. W1: the width in the front of cutting edge;
b. Common shank diameter: Φ3.175, Φ4, Φ6;
(i) When lettering in small size, and the cutting materials thickness is less than 10mm:
We recommend using Φ3.175.
(ii) Sometimes, also need to use the shank diameter changes from Φ3.175 to Φ2 or Φ1.5 in front end;
c. H1: blade length, the cutting material thickness should be less than H1;
In general, H1 divides into the following kinds according to materials depth:
12mm: cut ≤10mm depth;
17mm: cut 15mm depth;
22mm: cut 20mm (to PVC: use Φ3.175 more; to acrylic: use Φ4);
④ Principle:
a. We don't suggest the use of 22mm mill cutter when the cutting thickness is less or equal to 10mm, which may result in tools broken;
b. If you don't have 22mm milling cutters but have to cut 20mm depth materials,
17mm end mill cutters can be a makeshift, which is realized by cutting step by step;
All the router bits above:
Flower cutter, Sharp cutters, Ball cutter, Straight cutter and Milling cutter are 2D cutters.
(6) 3D cutters in the types of router bits:
It includes:
① Router over bit: used in rough cleaning embossment;
② 3D sharpen router bits: used in fine cleaning relief;
③ Wide-angle 3D cutter used in 3D lettering or panel veneer chamfering;
④ Odd-shaped 3D router bits:
a. Unlike other common cutters –
Directly polished to various cnc bits that you needed to do for your work.
b. To this odd-shaped 3d router bits –
All shapes of tool bits are welded onto this cutter with special welding technology andΦ6 shank diameter,
c. It directly applies to different special shaped processing, also known as "Big-head cutter";
d. Application:
3D scrap chopper (calculate the path by "3D" function) and beveling;
e. Parameter:
(i) W1: Diameter under the tool holder;
It randomly assign to 32mm, also with smaller diameter model to cut smaller 3D words;
(ii) A: Half angle contained by the two sides, which is of the tool tip part;
It randomly assign to 90°, so A sets as 45 (similar to flat end sharp cutters);
(iii) W2: Tool tip width; Usually set as 0.1 or 0.2;
(7) Other cutters in the types of router bits:
Such as relief cutter specially used for 3D basso-relievo, and so on;
2. Types of router bits sorted by materials:
(1) Alloy: mainly for wood and organic materials;
(2) Diamond: mainly for stone, glass, brick, etc.;
3. Types of router bits sorted by blade:
(1) Single edge: semi precision processing to improve productivity & process efficiency;
(2) Double edge: finish machining to reduce surface roughness;
