How to Set Multilayer Engrave

Because there is a limit to the maximum engraving depth of router bits, sometimes we need to finish sample by multilayer engrave.

So how to set multilayer engraving in software?

1. First step to set multilayer engrave -

Produce model by image:

(1) Open the carving pattern, set the relief's dimension and depth.

Here, the depth means the total depth of embossment.

(2) After setting, preview the embossment effect by clicking "3D effect".

2. Second step to set multilayer carve -

Create tool path:

Here, we should pay more attention to "Undercut Step" in edit parameters.

This value is the carving depth in each layer; we can set according to material hardness and router bits quality.

3. Third procedure to set multilayer engrave -

(1) To Z-axis height in the last tool path, input relief total depth.

This value is negative.

(2) Below "tool selection", there is an option: "Multi Z-axis layer cutting".

Remember that, if process by multilayer sculpture, select the check box behind.

(3) To Z-axis height in the first tool path, input cutting depth you wanted in the first layer.

This value is also negative.

(4) The setting left is the same to the value, which is no need to engrave multilayered.

4. Fourth step to set multilayer sculpture -

After setting, simulate tool path.

We can see the tool path is calculated in layered form.

Then, lead the tool path into control system.
