Stone Engraving Bits

Stone Engraving Bits

What's the processing depth and speed in lettering?

Many users may have such question in lettering, what is the engraving depth and speed by stone engraving bits?

To the thickness, it depends on the blade of stone engraving bits, z axis travel, and also different stone materials.

Usually, granite by stone engraving bits can reach 1-3mm; if make 3D embossment on marble or sandstone, the common thickness is 10mm, even 30mm for deep relief. It is also no problem for deeper carving.

Professional to say, if you could find single flute cutters with sufficient length, and machining step by step, you can get to any thickness you want!

As for speed, that depends on various work, stone types and hardness, path spacing, mill bits cut depth, etc. We need to grope according to real situation.

Normally, the speed cannot be so fast. Professional suggest that, when you try stone engraving bits for the first time, it is best to start from very low speed, even the lowest; then speed up gradually, and find the most suitable speed.

Moreover, the core is carbide cutting tools, not cnc router. The first selection for hard materials, like granite, marble, gravestone, tiles, is diamond tools.

The better cutter, the higher efficiency is.

In a word, the depth and speed should see many aspects. Such as your demand, materials, cnc machine configuration, stone engraving bits, and so on. Relatively, the harder materials, the slower speed, and more shadow depth.
