3 Main Factors to CNC Cutting Parameters

3 Main Factors to CNC Cutting Parameters

What are the 3 main keys to CNC cutting parameters?

1.    Spindle speed:

(1)  Definition:

First, select one point on cnc cutting blade.

Then, the rate of this position, relatives to cnc workpiece, is called cutting speed.

The unit is m/s or m/min.

(2)  In rotary motion, it is generally maximum linear velocity.

(3)  With the growth of velocity, the tool nose temperature also increases, and produces mechanical, chemical, and thermal wear.

Once rise by 20%, it will reduce the service life of router bits to 50%.

(4)  We can calculate cnc cutting parameters as follows:

V=π*d*n / 10000 (m/min or m/s).

     d – Diameter of cnc router tools (mm);

     n – Rotate speed (r/s or r/min).

2.    Engraving depth:

(1)  In feed motion direction, the displacement of ball end mill to work piece.

(2)  Larger carving thickness will lead to a rise in temperature and abrasion backward.

So, such cnc cutting parameters have little effect on end mill tool.

3.    Feeding rate or back engagement:

In tiny and deep-cut, the processing materials will produce hardening layer, and affect the lifetime of carbide milling cutter.

When we confirm cnc cutting parameters, we should determine according to practical situation.

The general principles are: little engraving thickness, fast feeding rate. To hard machining materials, such as stainless steel or heat resistant alloy, we could use machine cutting fluid or choose tool edge with excellent rigidity.
