What Factors Determine CNC Cutting Speed

What Factors Determine CNC Cutting Speed?

CNC cutting speed directly affects manufacturing efficiency. So what factors decide it?

1.    The materials of cnc router bits:

(1)  It is the most important element.

(2)  Different materials are with different allowable highest cnc spindle speed.

For example:

     Ball end mill cutter: about 80m/min;

     Coated cnc carving bits: 200m/min;

     Ceramic tools can reach as much as 1000m/min.

2.    Structure of cnc cutting tool:

It includes shape, angle, blade sharpness, etc.

3.    Service life of carbide cutting tools:

If you require a long lifetime, should be with lower cnc cutting speed.

Or else, apply more rapid rate.

4.    If large in engraving depth and cnc machining parameters, will have great cut resistance, and increase cutting heat. So we should reduce cut velocity.

(1)  Carving thickness is restricted by machine stiffness.

(2)  With the permission of stiffness, the carving depth should be as big as possible;

If not limited by processing accuracy, make thickness equals to mechanical allowance. Thus can reduce feed times.

5.    Work piece materials:

The hardness has impact on cutting velocity.

To the same tool,

(1)  To hard work piece, should lower rate;

(2)  To soft work piece, raise it.

6.    The use of cutting fluid:

If cnc router is with good rigidity and high precision, can improve the cutting force; instead, cut down cnc cutting speed.
