How to Determine Length of CNC Carving Tool?
The length of CNC carving tool, generally refers to the distance between spindle end face and tool tip. It includes two parts: router bits and the handle.
So how can we decide the extent of granite stone tools? The basic principle is: on the premise of machining requirements, minimize the extent of end mill tool, to increase the rigidity of tool system.
While designing process technology and programming, to prepare flute mill easier, usually we just estimate the near range or size.
The sizes of cnc carving tool are confirmed by some different conditions, such as clamping position of work piece in worktable.
The shorted length of solid carbide cutters is:
TL = A - B - N + L + T1 + Z0
There,
TL - downcut cutters size;
A - The maximum distance between spindle end face and workbench center;
B - The maximum travel of spindle in Z-axis direction;
N - The range from manufacturing surface to workbench center;
L - Engraving depth;
T1 - A portion length of ball endmill;
Z0 - Cutting thickness.
We should also accumulate more experience, to be helpful in deciding the length of cnc carving tool.
