Router Bit Problem and Solution

(Ⅰ)

Even with high-quality diamond tools, suitable materials selection, good maintenance, router bit problem still happen.

The next sections will help you analyze and solve router bit common problem quickly.

1. The first router bit problem –

To single flute mill, it has loud sound while using:

(1) Cause:

Structurally, because just with single blade, so single flute cutter is a little lower in processing efficiency;

(2) Solution:

① Reduce rotation speed appropriately;

② Check whether something else in the er collet;

③ Make sure fixture is no problem;

2. The second router bit problem –

Short tool life:

(1) Reason:

① The diamond engraving tool is inconsistent with cnc router itself;

② Poor tool selection;

③ Worn router spindle;

④ The processing material is too hard;

⑤ Poor chip removal;

(2) How to solve:

① Adjust machine parameters;

② We suggest using carbide end mill with better materials and router bits quality;

③ Select CNC spindle properly;

④ Improve chip and dust collection;

3. The third router bit problem –

Tool vibration:

(1) What causes:

① The center of solid carbide end mills have a shift, which increases the centrifugal force while rotating, then cause vibration;

② Cnc router spindle doesn't hold flute end mill firmly(not clamped tightly);

③ Dirty router collets;

④ Collets wear out;

⑤ Incorrect collet diameter;

(2) How to resolve:

① Lower the position that collets hold router bits (a way try to shorten the tool length which protrude from collet bottom);

② Clean or replace collets;

4. The fourth router bit problem –

Finished surface is rough, with white edge and trembling mark:

(1) Arise from:

① Tool blade wear out too quickly and become not sharp enough, which lead to white edge;

② The workpiece is not fixed well;

③ Rotational speed does not match with travelling speed;

④ Wrong choice of router bit types;

⑤ Tool vibration;

⑥ Damage tool;

(2) How to resolve:

① Test the fixing of work piece and cutter, and clamping again;

② Adjust the ratio between rotating speed and movement speed;

③ How to choose router bits, according to different types of router bits;

④ Check cutting edge;

⑤ Replace new cnc tools;
