Structure of Router Engraving Bits
Structure of Router Engraving Bits
Ⅰ. Clamping Part
All formations of router engraving bits are made of clamping part and working portion.
Here, we introduce the first section - clamping section / fixture.
There are two types of fixtures, with hole or with handle.
1. Router engraving bits with holes are installed in the cnc spindle or mandrel. They transfer torsional moment by axialbond or end surface key.
For example, cylindrical long router bit, shell face milling cutter, etc.
2. End mill cutter with shank:
Shank: made from low alloy steel;
Processing area: butt weld the two parts by high-speed steel.
It has three kinds:
(1) Rectangular shank:
Such as lathe tool, plane cutter.
(2) Cylindrical holder:
Usually suitable for cnc engraving tools, small twist drill, and so on.
While numerical control machining, it transmits twisting force through friction due to clamping.
(3) Conic holder:
It bears axial thrust through taper, and delivers torque by the help of frictional forces.
