Tool Selection Guidelines
- Application: Smelted brazed diamond bits apply to relief work on marble, bluestone, sandstone and granite. Fast carving speed with good finished effect.
- Critical dimensions: Three key parameters: shank diameter, tip size, cutting length. Example: 12‑to‑6×100 means shank 12mm, tip 6mm, cutting length 100mm.
- Shank Diameter: Select proper shank diameter to avoid tool breakage. It depends on stone hardness, carving depth, feed speed and machine rigidity. For relief depth within 20 mm: 8 mm shank as mainstream choice. For relief depth over 20 mm: choose 10 mm shank. High‑speed machining requires larger‑diameter shanks.
- Tip Size: Pick the largest feasible tip under precision requirement. Larger tip achieves longer service life. For example, choose 6 mm tip instead of 3 mm /4 mm if precision allows.
- Cutting Length: Select cutting length with margin according to stone flatness and carving depth to avoid shank abrasion. Example: 26 mm carving depth → select 30 mm cutting‑length bit; 15 mm carving depth → select 20 mm cutting‑length bit.
