📌 Operation & Maintenance Guide
Tool Selection
Try to choose cutters with short cutting edges. Overlong cutting edge or shank will cause vibration and offset during machining, resulting in tool damage and poor cutting quality. Larger shank diameter cutters are preferred.
Tool Operation Notes
- This woodworking router bit is for handheld and bench wood engraving machines only. Not suitable for electric drills or drill presses.
- It processes hardwood, softwood and composite boards for smooth finish. Do NOT cut metal, sand, stone or other non-wood materials.
- Use properly sized collets. Worn, out-of-round or tapered collets fail to clamp firmly, which leads to vibration, shank breaking or flying out.
- New collets are not always safe. If uneven contact marks or grooves appear on shank after clamping, replace the collet at once.
- If tool runout occurs after clamping, stop the machine immediately. Re-clamp to ensure full contact between shank and collet before restarting.
- Fully insert the shank into the collet and tighten firmly. Partial insertion may cause shank fracture and tool damage.
- Wear proper eye and ear protection during operation.
- Keep body, clothes and debris away from running cutting tool.
Tool Maintenance
- Keep the cutter clean. Remove resin, wood chips and contaminants after use with standard industrial solvent.
- Apply a thin layer of machine oil for anti-rust protection. Clean stains on shank to avoid slipping during cutting.
- Do NOT regrind or modify the cutter shape by yourself. Re-grinding requires professional equipment and skills, improper operation may cause edge breakage and safety accidents.
Troubleshooting for Machining Issues
表格
| Problem | Cause | Solution |
|---|---|---|
| Router Bit Breakage | Feed speed too fast / spindle speed too low | Reduce feed rate or raise spindle speed above 20000 RPM |
| Excessive cutting depth | Reduce cutting allowance | |
| Too much tool overhang, insufficient clamping length | Shorten overhang, ensure clamping length ≥4× shank diameter | |
| Cutting edge severely worn | Re-sharpen or replace tool, reduce cutting speed | |
| Poor collet precision | Replace collet | |
| Loose spindle or fixture | Tighten spindle and fixture | |
| Complex workpiece with many dead corners | Adjust cutting parameters and programming strategy | |
| Unstable workpiece fixing | Improve fixture for stable clamping | |
| Poor chip evacuation, heavy material sticking | Slow down feed speed, chamfer edge with diamond file | |
| Cutting Edge Chipping | Feed speed too fast, overly sharp tip | Slow feed speed, slightly chamfer edge with diamond file |
| Poor collet quality or incorrect installation | Replace collet, clear chips inside collet | |
| Low rigidity of fixture | Reduce cutting parameters | |

| Impurities inside workpiece material | Check raw material and adjust cutting speed | |
| Cutting Edge Fast Wear | Spindle speed too high / feed too slow | Lower spindle speed or increase feed speed |
| Low precision of spindle / collet | Repair spindle or replace collet | |
| Chip clogging | Select suitable cutter type, optimize chip removal | |
| Wrong tool selection for workpiece material | Confirm workpiece material and select matching cutter | |
| Incorrect cutting fluid | Use proper cutting fluid | |
| Wrong cutting direction | Adopt climb milling | |
